Our Story

FileUploadGPT was born out of frustration. Like many ChatGPT power users, we constantly ran into the same problem: we had large files we needed ChatGPT to analyze, but the file size limits kept getting in the way.

We tried the workarounds. Splitting PDFs into smaller pieces. Copy-pasting content chunk by chunk. Using third-party tools that required subscriptions or compromised our privacy. None of it felt right.

So we built our own solution.

FileUploadGPT started as an internal tool — something we made for ourselves. But we quickly realized that if we had this problem, thousands of others did too. Rather than keep it private, we decided to share it with the community.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: make it easy for everyone to upload large files to ChatGPT.

We believe that:

• Tools should be simple. One click to upload. No configuration needed. No learning curve.
• Privacy matters. Your files should stay on your device. We never see, store, or access your data.
• Good tools should be free. We don't believe in paywalls for basic functionality. FileUploadGPT is free for everyone.
• Maintenance is commitment. We keep FileUploadGPT updated and compatible with ChatGPT's latest changes.

What FileUploadGPT Does

FileUploadGPT is a Chrome extension that removes ChatGPT's file size limitations. Here's how it works:

1. You select a file — PDF, DOCX, TXT, code files, or other supported formats
2. FileUploadGPT processes it locally — entirely in your browser, on your device
3. The content is sent to ChatGPT — intelligently chunked to preserve context
4. You chat with your content — ChatGPT can now analyze your entire document

The entire process takes seconds, even for large files.

Our Commitment to Privacy

Privacy isn't an afterthought for us — it's a core design principle.

FileUploadGPT processes all files locally in your browser. This means:

• Your files never touch our servers
• We never see your file contents
• We don't store any of your data
• We don't track what files you upload

Why Free?

We get asked this a lot. Here's the honest answer:

FileUploadGPT is free because we don't need it to make money. We built it to solve our own problem, and sharing it costs us nothing. Since all processing happens locally in your browser, there are no server costs to cover.

We also believe that basic productivity tools shouldn't be locked behind paywalls. Too many extensions charge monthly fees for simple functionality. We wanted to be different.

FileUploadGPT has no premium tier, no "pro" version, and no plans to add one. The free version is the full version.
